Some Jewish holidays are sombre ,calm, a time for introspective and reflections, such as Yom Kippur, which is marked by somber prayer and atonement.
But Purim is a whole different kind of occasion: It’s all about joy, celebration and fun — and Judaism commands the celebrations. How American Jews observe it in the U.S matters to those who celebrate — especially at a time when antisemitism is spiking and Jewish pride and representation feels as important as ever.
Queen Esther’s intervention from the Bible account, toppled Haman the Agagite, the senior minister of the Persian King Ahasuerus (Xerxes). Haman had planned to annihilate all the Jewish people and had prepared gallows to hang Mordecai, Esther’s uncle. Instead, Haman was executed by the king on his own gallows, reversing the plot. The story of Purim derives from the biblical book of Esther. In it, Queen Esther was the wife of the Persian King Ahersarus. She was Jewish, although she concealed her Judaism. Ester’s cousin Mordecai learned of a plot to kill the king and loyally reported it. But Mordechai did not bow to Haman, the king’s most powerful advisor. As a result, Haman wanted to destroy all the Jewish people in the Persian Empire. But Mordechai appealed to Queen Esther to save her people, and she came up with a brave and bold strategy to dash Haman’s plan. She invited the king and Haman to two banquets. At the second banquet, she revealed two shocking facts: first, that Haman wanted to kill the Jewish people, and also that she herself was Jewish. As a result of these two revelations, courageous and clever Esther was able to stop the villain’s plot just before he could carry it out. Esther’s bravery saved the Jewish people. The king punished Haman with death and appointed Mordechai, who had raised Esther after her parents died, as his deputy in Haman’s stead. Mordechai is alternately described as Esther’s uncle. What is important about Mordechai is that he stands up first, by refusing to bow down to Haman in the street, and he is the only one. It was his bravery that inspired Esther to act, with God given wisdom. Mordechai remains valuable because he recognizes that there is a need to stand up as a person with no power, and then to leverage Esther’s power to save more than just one person. These two characters, Queen Esther and Jewish Elder States Man- Mordechai teach us about different kinds of bravery: when you are alone and must fight for your beliefs, and when you must fight for others at your own risk. Mordechai teaches us to fight for ourselves and Esther teaches us not to be a bystander, but to get involved leveraging on our God given Positions
It is uniquely important, that the strike that took out Ayotollah Komeini of Iran took ì place at the begining of the Purim Festival. It’s significant because It marked the removal of the ultimate hater of Jews, in the present generation. It was like or equivalent of Queen Esther deciding to end the threats against Jews, by a powerful member of the Kings Cabinet.
Under the reign of the Ayatollah Komeini, the world have had to bear tolerate and carry the burden of their terrorism. His extremely bizare vow to eliminate Israel became very dangerous when he started developing Neuclear Missile Capacity. He had to be stopped. This should be the global response to terrorism decapitate it, neutralize it and take it from Ground Zero. President Trump is the Man who God used and will use to bring sanity back to this wicked and confused world. Purim for you should be a time to overcome and subdue any things that challenge you existentially. Things like Sexual Perversion, lying, deception, procrastination, Unforgiveness , Hatred, Bikering,Complaints, and attendance violence. You must adjust confront and destroy terrorism it’s agents and elements, no matter their position on this earth. God is waiting for you to move and participate.Wipe Away The Hammans around you.
